Thinking about track lighting? Trust us with your tracks. Track lighting is the most flexible of all modern lighting. Rather than a fixed ceiling light, track lighting can normally be moved within the track so the angles and areas of lighting can be changed as the room changes or just as your mood changes. This allows any lighting ideas to come to life. A track can be fitted to a wall, ceiling, beam, rafter or joists. They can also be hung on wire, which is popular with high ceilings. Normally used as kitchen lighting, but the ability to move the light makes them a great choice for a study or room with dark recesses. Many systems now simply use a single live and then use digital control interfaces such as DALI to control the fittings. This means that each fitting can be independently controlled. A variation of track lighting is cable lighting. Where the lights themselves are attached to a cable, allowing great flexibility and choice of where the light and shade is positioned. Another ceiling lighting variation is called flex track or monorail track lighting in which the fixtures are hung from a single line monorail track attached to the ceiling using stems. There are several different types of track. Some are very flexible and can be curved in any shape or form and some are more rigid and can be curved very slightly. Some patterns that can be made are "S curves" or "spirals". At 'Electrics and Lighting' we have a huge range of track lights, track light kits suitable as kitchen lights or ceiling lights.
